Bucks, Bumps, & Bargains

God has always wanted to bless His people. His blessings are not always financial in nature, but they don’t exclude the realm of finances either. In Matthew 5:3 Jesus states, “Blessed are the poor in spirit” which points out the fact that we can be rich or poor in different areas and still be blessed. However, we cannot become so reactionary to a “prosperity Gospel” that we fail to believe that God is still a good Father who loves to give good gifts to His children. He still gives what I call “bucks” (jobs or businesses), “bumps” (promotions), or “bargains” (deals & discounts).

In Deuteronomy 8:18 the Word tells us to remember that it is the Lord our God, that gives us the power to acquire wealth. In John 10:10 Jesus says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”. In III John 2 the Bible states, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers”.

God has also addressed promotions. In Psalm 75:6-7 God states, “For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another”. I’ve seen Him create opportunities in many situations where there seemed to be no hope for growth or advancement and sometimes through the hands of people I didn’t know! I’m mindful of Proverbs 10: 22 which says, “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it”. When He provides for you, it is done without pain or regret. He can put you in the right place or the right time to get discounts, deals, or bargains.

So how can we enter into this realm? Simple. God wants a relationship with His people. It is relationship with Him that is our ultimate blessing. When we desire Him above all else, we quickly see God as our greatest treasure, ultimate provider, and the giver of all good things. It is all about abiding in Him. In John 15:4 Jesus states, “Abide in me, and I in you”. Abiding is a relationship with Jesus, not religion or rituals.

If you need “bucks, bumps, or bargains” remember, He is a good Father! If you’re not a Christian and have never experienced the blessings of a relationship with God, simply ask Him to be the Savior and Lord of your life and discover for yourself the abundant life in Christ.

Matthew 7:9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
